At his residence on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010, at the age of 59 years, Eric Ransome of Bruce Township. Husband of Betty Ann Scheeringa. Father of Heather and her husband Gord Roppel, Karen and her husband Bill Thorne, Derek Ransome and Lisa McCarrel, all of Bruce Township, and Dennis Ransome and Stephanie Robertson of Listowel. Brother of Bruce and Grace of Bruce Township. Popa of Madison Campbell, Brooke Thorne, Paige Thorne, and Jessi Roppel. Also survived by his favourite dogs Cletus and Myley. He is predeceased by his parents Ted and Muriel Ransome, infant brother Allan, and granddaughter Elizabeth Roppel.
Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 9th, 2010. A funeral service will be conducted in the Port Elgin Missionary Church, Green and Bricker Sts., Port Elgin, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Widdowson officiating.
Memorial contributions to the Grey Bruce Eat and Learn or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. | |

so sorry to hear about Eric. Still can't believe it. I am really going to miss all the jokes and little digs he always had for Roger and those early morning phone calls you guys like to make. Eric was so young, we grew up and went to school together in Bruce twsp.
We used to bicycle from the 10th of Bruce to North Bruce and hang out

The shock has not really set in for us at your Dad's,husbands,brothers and Grandpas sudden passing. Our hearts go out to you please call if you need anything.
There is just nothing that can be said to ease your grief and sadness at this diffficult time.
We will miss Eric's smart comments and his quick wit! You have a very special angel to watch over you so behave! At this difficult time remember all the great memories you have and remember too the not so great memories. It is all the memories, good and bad, that keep our loved ones in our hearts forever.
Eric's hearty laugh will be missed by all. Never did he not go out of his way to say a big Hello and ask how it was going. He always had time to talk a minute no matter how busy he was and he was always busy!

Our family is very upset at the loss of such a good neighbour and friend. Since we moved to the 12th Conc. 5 years ago, Eric helped us out in many different ways and on many occasions. We considered him not only a good neighbour but a cherished friend. Thinking of the whole familyat this sad time, and please call on us if you need anything. That's what friends and neighbours do.

Some greater power must have needed him to liven up their party, (hope they are ready). Eric's death has left a void in our lives that will never fade. He was and is a true and best friend.
