Pam and I have very fond memories of Allen and Barbara. We spent very happy holidays with them travelling to France and Costa Rica. We planned to visit him while on a trip to Peterborough and were shocked to learn of his passing the very day we called to arrange to visit him. Allen was a most interesting chap who loved a good dinner followed by good conversation and was well able to contribute some witty comments.
We will both miss a very dear friend.

I just found out about Al's passing and am very sorry to hear about it. I always liked Al, he never lost his British upbringing and acted in a very special sofisticated way. Good bye old chap and rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to the family

Your Dad was the first parent in the neighbourhood I met in early '64 about 10 minutes after I met Drew (not quite 4 years old) at the corner of Bricker St. and Davey Drive digging in the front sand pile and then Richard hanging out with the older (8 year old) guys around. Al Symonds (and Drew and Richard's mom) picked me up one time about 25 years ago and helped me get to a place I had to go and Al told me all the details about how Diefenbaker folded up the AVRO project and other stuff.
