| Esther Jackson |
It is with great sorrow
that the family announces the passing of Esther Jackson (nee Umpherson).
One of the unsung heroes of this world, she dedicated her life to
her devoted husband Allen, her three daughters Pam (Mather), Shelley
and Heather (Jackson) and her five grandchildren; Alison, Erin and
Alexander Mather and Andrew and Kimberley Hart. Born to William and
Frances (nee Davidson) Umpherson on April 12, 1922 she received her
education at the Ladore, Lanark and Perth Collegiate schools. She
joined the RCAF in 1943 and was an air traffic controller at Mont
Joli QC airport. After the war she moved to Toronto where she met
and married her husband Allen and raised her family. Esther’s
passion with genealogy was a continued expression of her deep love
of family and community history. She loved the beauty of flowers.
She is especially loved by her sister Irene Spence, and brothers Earl
and Charles Umpherson. Predeceased by sisters Dorothy Ireton, Gladys
Millar and brother Arthur Umpherson. A service in celebration of her life will be held
at the Blair and Son Funeral Home, 17 Gore St. Perth, Ontario on Friday,
October 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin
Chapel, 519-832-2222. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Archives Lanark
would be appreciated. Click here
